Ripoff dishonest billing

I took my son in to have his teeth worked on by Dr. Garza. I wrote post dated checks for the total bill amount. I was told that it was paid off. Now they have come back and said that I still owe more money. I don't think this is fair or legal. They have reported it to the credit bureau. Please Help.
