Furniture & Equipment

I bought an Acer Aspire One AAA0722 Netbook at Target on 11/16 which I gave to my granddaughter for Christmas on 12/31 (we live in different towns). On January 14, it crashed. It doesn't recognize its own harddrive. When I went to exchange it I was refused because my receipt was more than 45 days old. Regardless of the circumstances, the exchange was refused.
Now I must deal with the manufacturer.

My granddaughter has probably spent less than 8 hours on this machine since she got it, but I can't return it because the receipt is more than 45 days old.

Now my 9 year old granddaughter is out her Christmas present and I am very angry and frustrated. As a business owner myself, we do everything we can within reason to keep our customers happy. Under the circumstances, I fail to understand why Target will not honor and correct there having sold me a defective product.

I wonder how many others have bought something on Black Friday and not given it as a gift until Christmas or shortly after only to learn they can't return it because the receipt is more than 45 days old? Really?

I will no longer shop at Target and will be cancelling my credit card with them as well. Any company that cannot consider the circumstances and make independent returns when necessary doesn't need my business.

Oh, and when I tried to email them with my complaint, it wouldn't accept my email.
