Check Card Processing - Card Accout

I am trying to apply for the Target Check Card. The application process requires you send a voided check to Target. I do all my banking on-line and use my debit card to access my checking account. I ran out of checks 5 years ago and have never re-ordered them. When I spoke with the representative from Target I was informed that an actual check was needed. A starter check or letter would not work to process the check card. I find it extremely silly to order 200 checks that I will never use, just to get a check card. I use my routing and account numbers to make online purchases all of the time. Target's system of processing seems quite outdated and combersome. Is there any way I can get around this issue.
