I got a Care Credit card (what a complete misnomer) to pay for my new hearing aids with 0% interest for 12 months. Sounded like a good deal, and was recommended by my practitioner. (I will tell him my experience and suggest he not recommend them anymore.) I paid my first bill through my online banking account—only to have it returned to my bank two weeks later, with no acknowledgment or explanation to me and a $25. Charge for late payment in the next bill. Huh?

I wrote to GE Retail Bank online a week ago, and never received a response. Then I called customer service yesterday—and was put on hold for half an hour. My experience was much the same as discussed in the previous complaints. The representative was sweet and polite, but could answer no questions, misunderstood my complaint, and would/could not tell me who might be able to help. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and again was placed on hold. After 15 minutes I was angry and impatient, so I hung up.

Today I tried again, to no avail. I then went to the website and arranged to pay online directly to them. I did this, because I do not want to be billed for another late charge, especially when I was not ever late with a payment. However, you can be sure that I will find alternative financing ASAP and pay off my my remaining balance to UnCare/Credit. This is a typical corporate scam—with no way to get in touch with people who can help, and, therefore, no recourse. I hope the Consumer Finance Protection Agency can ferret out organizations like this. I plan to write to them with my complaint.

Meanwhile, I would not recommend UnCare/Credit (which is really GE) to anybody for any reason! Yuk.
