Sold me phone/activation fee/and monthly plan. Phone broke 4 days later and no warranty, said no ins./none offered at purchase

Saw ad for unlimited talk and text on billboard. Was informed that to get $25 month, also $15 activation fee, and purchase of $50 phone was required. Phone worked great, service was good, but after 6 days pulled of use the screen on phone was half blank when I pulled it out of my pocket to use.

Went to local shop on Ridgewood and Mason where I purchased phone and plan and was advise to go to corporate office at Nova at Speedway. I showed the clerk my phone indicated I had not dropped it, just had it in my pocket and when pulled it out the screen was half blank. She indicate that this was a stress crack on the inner screen and was common with kids. I told her I was not a kid, had att for 19 prior years and never had a phone damaged carrying it my pants pocket. She pulled out a poster ans showed me the same type of damage on this poster and said it was not covered unless I had insurance event though the phone was less than 7 days old. I explained that I was not even offered insurance and she apologized.

Another clerk (Yolando) who did not even hear the conversation tried to interfere interject and told me she was going to get someone bigger than me when I refused to let her try and overtalk me. A tall skinny kid Keith came out and reiterated that the screen was cracked underneath. I asked him how the screen underneath could be damaged when the outer screen was fine and told him to take the outer screen off and prove it and he told me he could not. I explained his clerk comments and asked if was company policy to not offer insurance, or to have a clerk tell a customer that I am going to get someone bigger than you. He did not respond. I asked for his District Manager number and he indicated he could not give it to me, but could have someone call me. I explained to him that I would search it on the net and find it.

I understand now why they set up in lower class neighborhoods with a staff of young kids with little or no education as customer service reps.
