Best Buy defective camera Christmas Gift - nikon camera

I received a Nikon camera forChristmas from my wife. I took 2 pictures and 1 video tring to learn the functions. Shut it off to down load pics to see on pc monitor. Cut it back on and lens would not open. Cut it off and back on no good. Pulled battery out and reinstalled still not working.
Went to returns 2 days after christmas (lines for miles). CSR looked at camera and said she wold have a geek squad guy look at it, she comes back 5 minutes later and states it must have been dropped and she could not do anything. I told her to get manager (line backing up further) He proceeds to tell me same thing. I am a hard case, and a tech. I looked him in the eyes raised my voice for all to hear in lines and said DUDE 2 things are going to happen here, either i get a new camera or you are going to give me cash back for this purchased a month ago, and aint moving in this line until one or the other takes place. He actually tried to convince me that they would have to eat the cost of the camera, i told him he was full of *& that he would send it back to manufacturer and get credit for it. Stated that if this wasnt resolved in next 10 minutes i was going to really start showing my AS*. My problem was resolved with a 150 dollar upgraded camera for 50 dollars. If i had been passive i would have been stuck with a 400 dollar camera that did not work or pay to have it shipped back and pay for repairs. Will never ever step in best buy again moral of story is get in there face make them feel the heat and dont back down, shame we have to do this to get results for a product we have purchased.
