Bad Experience Scheduling Auto Audio Install - iSimple iPod/iPhone Interface for BMW

Electronics and household app.

Needing to have an iPod interface installed in my BMW I called the Speedway, Kansas Best Buy store at 4pm on Monday, March 19th, to schedule an appointment. After customer service transferred my call to the installer no one answered. I called again and the same thing happened. I decided to drive to the location and found the audio install bays empty and the customer door locked. I went into the store via the main entrance and asked if the install department was closed. I was told it was not. I walked back to the auto audio department and found the installer in a conversation with a customer who was looking at auto stereo units. The installation area was empty and the interior entrance door was locked. After 10 minutes another salesman asked me if I'd been helped. I told him that I wanted to have an audio unit installed. After a few more minutes the installer told me that he was too busy to install my unit and that I would have to make an appointment. I told him that there were no cars in the waiting area outside of the install bays and the bays themselves were empty. He insisted I needed to make an appiontment. I asked for the manager

After speaking to the manager and him speaking to the installer I was told that I would have my unit installed today and the installer would start after 10 minutes. Ten minutes went by and the installer approached me and asked what kind of car I wanted the unit installed into. I stated it was a BMW Z4. He then told me he'd never worked on one on those before and was not sure he could do it. He then looked at his computer and said that the dash was very complicated and he would never have the work done on time before he went home. I told him it was 5pm and the store closed at 9pm.

The installer then told me he had a very important engagement at 7pm and that he wasn't sure he'd have the job done by then. He then insisted that I schedule an appointment at another time.By now I did not have the confidence that this installer had my best interests in mind so I made an appointment two days later with another installer at the same store. Needless to say I do not intend to keep that appointment and will cancel; opting to have someone else at another business put in my audio unit.

Too bad. Best Buy used to be my favorite electronics store and I have been a faithful customer for over 20 years. No more.
