Confirmed order then Cannot fill it - HP Touchpad Online

I ordered an HP Touchpad from Barnes and Noble. They sent confirmation email. I check the order status and it said that it would ship in 2 days. I stopped looking for a Touchpad, thinking I had already bought one. I received an email the next morning saying they had oversold and cannot deliver.

Is this a scam to get people to check out their website and maybe buy $25 worth of books for free shipping? I wonder how many touchpads they had and how many they oversold.
