Southwestern Bell Communications (SBC) Ripoff! They have a monopoly and poor service in hard line communication. San Antonio Laredo

A service call was placed when all 4 business lines at our office went down at 8:10 am. After waiting on hold with an automated system for 8 minutes, a live person answered and told me that the problem must be inside my building because her computer said our building had dial tone. I informed her that my telephone system was newly upgraded, digital and had been performing perfectly.
As well, I mentioned that a digging crew was working across the street with a backhoe at the time we lost service. She said that she felt problem was inside and I should call equipment provider.

I called the Avaya system repair, they responded within 45 minutes and found everything in order inside, but the lines were dead outside. Sure enough the lines had been cut across the street as I suspected. Furthermore, they said it would have been impossible for the SBC operator to hear a dial tone at my building.

The Avaya unnecessary service call cost me $98.00.
I called SBC, 3 hours later a service man appeared and found all lines had been cut by backhoe operator. Lines were not restored until the next morning a full days service including all credit card transactions were lost.
SBC constantly tells people the problem is with their telephone equipment. They refused to reimburse me for AVAYA service call.

Encourage your local, state, and federal reps to endorse unrestricted Voice Internet Protocol so we can eliminate SBC monopoly and poor service in hard line communication.
