Printer Wastes Ink Printing Pages Every Time Cartridge Is Changed

Every time you run out of ink and you change the cartridge you have to print several pages using all colors (even when you change only the black) and the printer do nothing until you wasted a lot of ink. (in whole pages
When you contact H P they said their printers are designed to do that (how convenient)
I feel this is a waste of ink and you know they are expensive
