Horrible Warranty Program

I purchased a Sony cordless telephone that stopped working with a few months. The telephone was still under warranty, and I called their technical support to try to get the problem resolved. After waiting about half an hour on hold, I finally got with a rep, who proceeded to walk me through several tests to make sure there was a problem with the phone. The rep agreed that the phone was faulty, and set up a return process to exchange the phone. This whole process took upwards of an hour.
I would have been fine up till this point. They were offering to honor the warranty, and replace the phone. After a few weeks (way too long in my opinion) the replacement phone finally arrived. The problem was, that it was a completely different model phone than the one I had purchased. Not only was it a different model, it was a much inferior phone. (specifically it had no page button on the phone, made of cheaper materials, etc.)
I couldn't believe I had gone through all of this only to get sent a bogus replacement. I called the company, and again waited about 30 minutes on hold to get to a rep. Then spent the next 45 minutes working with this new rep, explaining the situation, my frusteration, and having him pull up the logs.
Their answer?"We reserve the right to send a replacement phone of our choice."
What kind of warranty program is this? I'm furious! They just sealed the deal. I'm never buying Sony again. Beware of their warranty offers - they're not worth crap.
