Endless trouble w / faulty M4400. Dell exchanges for DOWNGRADED machine! Twice!

Electronics and household app.

I have had the M4400 since Dec. 2008.in that time, I've had severe heat issues, a faulty keyboard, bios version incompatibility with installed hardware, downclocking of the video card, hardware incompatibilities with the preinstalled Dell software, and finally system failure (blue screen of death) each time a video is launched.

Tech support was generally unaware of issues I called about, though those same issues had been discussed extensively on well known notebook sites. At least half the time, tech support was unhelpful.in one instance, tech support was hostile.

Finally, I was offered an exchange for this machine. This required yet another delay while the new machine was being built. My account did not show that a new machine was being built, however it did arrive 12 days later.

The machine I received had a downgraded video card, downgraded wifi, and was completely missing the modem, webcam, and bluetooth I had paid for on my first machine. Dell's stated exchange policy is for same or upgraded parts.

I called to complain. I was promised a new machine that matched my original specifications. This time, my account was updated to show the new machine being built. I discovered that Dell was building me a SECOND downgraded machine!

Meanwhile, the new machine was just as hot as the old one. The heat issue was what had finally triggered the Dell exchange in the first place. I called Customer Service and asked for a credit. Dell is the only company (to my knowledge) that puts a quad core cpu in a 15.4 notebook. I felt the heat issue would not be resolved by another exchange.

Additionally, Dell wasn't giving me an exchange for equal parts as specified by their own policy! I thought that I would solve the issue by getting a credit and upgrading to a 17inch notebook.

My request for a credit was denied. The company denied the heat issue. They did not address the TWO downgraded machines they built for me.in conclusion, beware doing business with this company. They provide faulty equipment and deny the problems. They do not honor their warranties.
