Bait And Switch bait and switched lower import model without disclosure, horrible customer service

Ordered a Canon rebel xsi (450d) over the phone w / a representative at lens n more. After talking w / a friend about some of the bait and switch and other issues some online retailers were employing, I made sure to ask whether this was new and in an unopened box, and that it was a US model. I was assured all were correct and placed my order after some hesitation when Andy went on to tell me that the item was out of stock, but they expected them in next Tuesday (2/3). He gave me an order number and I gave him my CC info.

I called on 2/3 at 5:30 EST and though their site says they are open until 7:30 est, received the customer service close messaged. I used their menu anyway and got into queue, only to have the line repeatedly picked up and hung up.

I called on 2/4 at 3:20 est and chose customer service as an option. After repeated attempts to get to a live person and being told to leave a msg due to high call volume, I called back and choose sales and got a rep right away. I didn't get the mans name, simply asked if I could get status on my order. I gave my name and his first response was that it was cancelled. I told him that I hadn't cancelled my order, that I was told it would ship yesterday (2/3). He then went on to say that I had ordered the import version, to which I said I had specifically asked whether it was a US or import model when I ordered and that I was told it was US. The man then went on to tell me that I ordered online, which I again corrected him saying it was over the phone (the first phone order I have made since internet ordering became available over 10 years ago!). His reply was simple, what do you want to do? I told him I would like to cancel and he said its done and hung up.

I would not be writing this complaint if it wasn't for the fact that I had already ordered the same camera from two other online retailers, both of which emailed me right after to have me call them and then proceeded to tell me how what I had ordered may not be what I wanted and attempted to upsell me to a better lens or camera. I have never dealt with such unethical and unprofessional online merchants in my life, but have a newfound respect for the clich if its too good to be true, it probably is.
