Check Denied as Suspicious Despite High Credit Score

My check was denied. It was not a risk, but they thought it was. It was pure paranoid suspicion, and Home Depot lacks customer support. I never had a problem until I paid off our debt, and then their excuse was suspicious check pattern writing. Is that a real reason?

Fraud? With a high credit score and a military background? Really?
