John Who Sells Out Of A White Van
White Van Speaker Scam

My husband was on his way in to the Postal Credit Union in North St. Paul, when a guy named John, in a White Econoline Van (Illinois license plate #54529) stopped him to see if he wanted to buy these really nice, $3,500 home theater stereo speakers which this guy is delivering from Chicago. Apparently, he got a "double shipment" and just needed to get rid of them and would let them go for $250. His phone number is 630-742-3563. He had a catalog and the boxes looked pretty legitimate.

My husband called me, and I googled the phone number and it showed up in several scam-reporting websites with a description just like mine.

I called the police and they came while the guy was waiting for my husband to exit the bank. Unfortunately, they could only send him away. They couldn't arrest him, because they didn't have a warrant for his arrest.

I guess that selling bad (not stolen) merchandise for top dollar, while pretending it's better than it is isn't illegal!
