Sold a home stereo set that did not work

On September 11, a white van pulled up to the front of a welding business and started chatting with the workers leaving. He explained he had a duplicate order of home stereo equipment and would sell them for $500.00 cash.

We had been looking at home stereo systems so my husband continued to get information from the man. He said he had just come from installing 3 at Middlebury College and he needed to unload these.

They were all nicely boxed and looked in perfect condition, with paperwork that accompanied them. He decided at that time to buy one. After that, off the guy went to stop at other local businesses that had a lot to pull up in.

He brought the system home, immediately I was quite sure this was a scam or possibily stolen equipment. We had other places to go so left it in the box until the next day.

The same day, the women who worked in the office, thought that they would check via internet for any reports on this company. What goes without saying, there were reports of people who purchased this same stereo in the same manner, from a rented white van, all over the US and Canada.

The system claims all sorts of things that it can do, that is not the case. My husband worked on it for quite a while, it did turn on, but the sound was unable to be adjusted without echos and background static.

Needless to say, we got one of the duds and I am just writing in to let others know that they need to be aware, never buy an item without asking them for a demonstration and verifiable company data.

When they say its too good to be true, generally it is.
