Electronics and household app.
I bought a Nikon F100 camera body from Regency Camera in November. I got it (I thought) at a great price (the sales guys required that I go on this website to give this retailer a high rating and give him the confirmation # to my rating report so he can verify it and THEN give me the good deal). I thought there was something fishy about this, but I played along because I wanted to get a good deal on this expensive product.
In any case, he also sold me the 7-year 35mm camera extended protection plan from Repair Tech for around $70. It's now over a year and I just tried to get my annual free cleaning by calling Repair Tech. They laughed at me (what's with the camera business? Why are all these NY/NJ-based retailers seem so rude on the phone yelling for no reason?) saying that that type of warranty plan does not apply to a Nikon F100, that I must have the 3-year Pro plan (which they said now costs $190).
So now Regency seems to be out of business (or shut down by authorities for consumers' benefit) there's nothing I can do. I have this useless piece of warranty registration card and I'm going to have to eat it. I really hope they are not operating under a new company and ripping off new customers.
