I had been with AT&T for over a year. The only problem that I had experienced was with my Pantech, which they replaced very quickly. I had been very pleased with AT&T.

When my fiance came home from Iraq I naturally opted to put him on my plan since he was sick of Verizon. We had purchased a 700 minute plan with unlimited text and internet. My fiance had picked out the Pantech Duo (a pda phone) our sales woman told us that we would be paying an extra $15 charge but it was not big of a deal to us. She informed us that our plan would be $49.99 $9.99 for his line $29.99 for unlimited text AND internet $15 for his pda. When we asked her what our bill would be monthly (before taxes) she said around $110-$120 a month. That sounded like a good deal to us and we signed up.

A month later when we get our bill it was over $160! We could not believe it. After looking at our bill we were charged an extra $15 for internet and his pda connection increased another $15. When we had called to ask about the internet charge we were informed that it was always an additional $15. We informed the rep. Of what our sales woman told us and of course they did not believe us. When we asked about the extra $15 for the pda the rep explained that the increase had happened the day BEFORE we bought the phone, and apologized for the sales woman "Maybe she did not know of the increase." I almost flipped. I have worked in sales and seen employees get in serious trouble for misinforming the customer due to their ignorance of current features and charges. Why? Because then it comes back to haunt the managers.

We sucked it up and paid the bill, we figured that we could go back to the store and speak to the associate who had helped us buy our plan. Not surprisingly she was fired. When we asked to speak to a manager they were on lunch so we left a message for him to call us. After no call, the next day I went back to the store, the manager was still not around, this time they were off, when I asked when they would be back in the associate shrugged his shoulders at me.

After a couple weeks of attempting to get ahold of the manager we gave up. The next month when our bill arrived it had increased to $180. This time because our rate plan increased by $20. We were sick of it, in the first couple months of having our service our bill had increased by over $60. We decided to cancell, unfortunately since we had signed a two year contract we were charged an extra $175 each. The rep.informed us that if we did not pay in full in 30 days that we would be forwarded to a collection agency with an 18% interest rate. I am expecting the calls anyday now. Seriously if I am cancelling because I could not afford your high rates, what makes you think that I am going to be able to pay off $350 in a month!?

We are sticking to pay as you go now. Atleast we have yet to get a surprise bill.
