Fast Talking Scam Artisits

Electronics and household app.

I initially purchased a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD308 for the price that was advertised which was $240. Three days later, I received a phone call from a very fast alking hight pressure salesman asking me to verify my address and what I had purchased. He then started to offer me other items such as a filter, another battery, a tripod and an external charger for extra added prices which I thought were reasonable at the time since I was not familiar with this type of camera. The extra charges came to another $240.

When I received the camera, the extra items were there but they all seems rather cheap, so I looked them up on their sight and could only find the lens cover which sold for $10. The other items were on other sights and came to a total of about another $57. Therefore, they had charged me an extra $240 for $67 worth of cheap items that I really did not need. Also, the invoice now listed the camera as $449.

When I called them about this I began talking to a really rude cutomer service person who was trying to tell me that they had the items but could not compare them to any other website. He was trying to tell me about the camera being from Japan and now I have an American model and all sorts of double talk came out. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me he was.

Finally, I told his that I felt as if I was scammed and was going to call the Better Business Bureau if he did not give me a refund and he put me on hold for about 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes another man came to the phone and told me he was the supervisor. When I said, "thank God" he said "well don't thank God yet". He then started to argue with me about the same items and how he could not compare them to any other sight and how I now have an upgraded camera and an upgraded warrenty. I said that I did not ask for any of that. When I told him that I was going to call the BBB, he said that he did not care about them or anyone else. When I told him that I could have gotten him other business he told me that if the other customers were going to be like me, he did not want them. He called me rude and said that he was going to treat me the same way that I was treating him.

He also told me that he litened to the other conversation that I had and that the other serviceman was making me an offer but I kept interrupting him. This was false. So, he finally said that if I was so unhappy I could just return the item. I said OK! He told me that I would have to pay the handling and insurance and the restocking fee. When I asked him what this was he said, now the total is going to be $130. I said fine. So, he then offered to make a deal of sending me a camera bag and 3 DVD-R's. I said make those 3 DVD RW's. He said, wait, let me see if we are still goiing to make money.
He finally agreed and I finally agreed since I was so tired of the whole matter and their bullying tactics. I am now waiting to see if this all happens.
