Ripoff Refused to honor a rebate on products sold through their store

Electronics and household app.

I purchased a 37" LCD TV at buy.com in February for $899, less a $200 rebate for a "net" price of $699. The rebate fulfillment time was promised as 6 weeks.

After waiting 5 months I began contacting buy.com. At first they registered my complaint and said it was being passed over to the rebate center and that I should hear back in less than 2 weeks.

After not hearing back after 2 weeks I called customer service again. This time they informed me that a credit was requested on my behalf and that I should see the credit posted to my credit card within 1 week.

After waiting another 2 weeks and not seeing a credit posted to my card I called again. This time I was told that since the 3rd party that was managing the rebate program (connect3d) went out of business, Buy.com would not fulfill the rebate.instead, they sent me an email with a $10 gift certificate as an appreciation of my understanding. I asked at that time to speak to a manager and they said I would receive a call within 24 hours.

I received no call from a manager and decided to try again a week later (today, July 18). This time I got to speak to a customer service manager. They told me there was nothing they could do beyond the $10 gift certificate. They told me if I wanted to pursue further, my only option was to write a letter to the president. They were unwilling to provide a number to call or an email address.

So they have effectively defrauded me twice:
1. I bought a TV from them on the promise of a $200 rebate that they did not deliver. I never would have bought this set at the full price.
2. They promised to credit my card and did not.

The service is absolutely atrocious, and the fact that the company is unwilling to speak with its customers and provides a single avenue of recourse - a useless letter attn: president (they were even unwilling to share his name, although it is available with a quick web search) is shameful. It is clear to me that they are just praying this problem, and the customers that they have wronged, will go away quietly.

Buy.com owes me $200.
