Product out dated... Surprise F. F California

After I had bought the wireless router from D-Link and called customer service to try to help me connect to the internet, and talked to more than 3 techs and second line techs and supervisors, they simply told me that that product (DI=514) will be out dated in a month so it'll be no use and when I asked how to find out the life of the product and how long it should last. I got this laim answer from them, that before I buy anything I should go on line and check it out first, you see that answer made me mad.
