Deal of the day MINTEK MDP 1050 DVD PLAYER ripoff

I bought two of these units as Christmas presents, last year. Within a month, the player would freeze, halfway through any DVD.

I tried to get the units exchanged through QVC and they will not have anything to do with it. Three weeks ago, i emailed Mintek, but they never replied. At that time, it was under warranty, but as with all these off brand companies, they did not acknowledge, or reply, to my email.

I finally got hold of them yesterday, and now it is out of warranty. Rather convenient, i must say. They now want to charge me $60 to repair these pieces of crap.

QVC is now selling these junkers again, so if you are contemplating buying one, make sure you have a back up. This unit doesn't even appear on Mintek's website, so that is obviously an omen in itself.

Do yourself a favor, if you want a unit like the MDP 1050, go to a reputable retailer and cover yourself with a good warranty. If you have one of these on order, cancel it, because once you have it, neither QVC or Mintek, will give a damn.
