Last December I bought a PCI Express Graphics Card ($150.00) for my fiance for Christmas. When I got to the register, I was asked if I wanted to purchase an extended warranty for an additional amount of money. I responded with saying - Why would I? I wouldn't have the receipt in a year. The cashier said we put your name in the computer so you won't need the receipt. Convinced, I accepted the warranty. A few months later I bought an IPod - The service man asked me about a battery warranty - and again told me the battery will eventually go dead and I would need one regardless. I paid the extra 30 bucks or something and got the warranty, where he indeed put my name into the computer system. Fast forward to July - The Graphics Card breaks. I call up the store where they refused to fix it or return it, Telling me my name is not in the computer system (for the graphics card or ipod) and that there was no way the cashier even took my name because it was Decemeber which is the busiest month of the year. I called The Recepit Line at your corporate office, and they told me because I paid cash they couldn't find it in the computer system. I was so heated, That I called the store and spoke to a manager by the name Melissa (I believe) - After telling me I should be lucky I have the warranty options unlike most competitors, She hung up on me. That really did it. I drove 35 minutes to the store, where she proceeded to yell at me and make me feel like I was stealing something from that store. She screamed at me saying she will not help me in any sort of way. I was embarrassed beyond belief and couldn't imagine being treated like that. Needless to say, Nothing has been solved. I let it go though and vowed to never shop there again. My sister in law saw something up at the store she wanted as a Christmas present, and I did not buy it for her, simply because I would not put my name on something from Best Buy. I emailed them this letter, and got a response of "if you dont have the receipt - we can't help you" - I then called the corporate office again, spoke with a rep and a supervisor who did nothing but say they can't help me it's my fault I don't have the receipt. I do have the receipt I bought for my ipod which they state im not in the computer for either. So if I dont have the receipt for the graphics card i KNOW im not getting any sort of refund or new graphics card. This is crazy!!!
