Sent to Collections and Credit Report After Partial Payments

I was billed for my phone service but at the time I was unable to pay the whole amount at the time I paid half the bill then I paid the other half later then I kept getting bills from them and then they added a deposit fee on the bill. I told them to send me an itemized statement of charges and to take off the deposit and I'll pay the rest because I will never use their service again. They just send a bill of how much I owe and now they have sent me to collections and I keep telling them I want a itemized statement but have gone nowhere, now on credit report.
