Monitronics International
Ripoff, dishonest, disorganized

Electronics and household app.

I got a security system with my husband in 2003.in I got divorced and my ex-husband left the house. I had him taken off the account along with changing the password and everything else needed.

Because his name was on the orignial account, somehow the bills began going to his new address. I called 4 times and the billing department assured me his name wasn't on the account and they would rectify the billing address.
The bills would come to me for a month, and then I'd be missing them again. They ended up at my ex-husbands second address. I spoke with supervisors and managers and after 1 year of yelling and screaming (of course, I wasn't allowed out of my contract) it was resolved.
Today, I sent Monitronics a letter stating my wishes to discontinue my contract which is up in May. They said that my signature didn't match the original signature. That of my ex-husband. I was informed he would have to sign off to cancel the account.

After 30 minutes of arguing, a representative asked if I had ever signed a new contract - No one ever gave me the option when I got divorced. They will allow me to give them proof of my divorce and only then will they let me out of my contract. They had the nerve to say they were worried about my safety and encouraged me to keep my alarm system. I'll be going with another company.
