Voice Stream ripoff, false promises

I too had been misled by a sales person at my local VoiceStream outlet. I was promised free LD and free Roaming across the country. I found out the hard way that the phone only works in their service area which is apparently not a lot of the USA.

Wanting to cancel the service I visited my local outlet and was informed that there would be a $200 cancellation fee even though the store manager admitted that I had been misled by his employee. I did not feel that I should be lible for the cancellation fee as I was misled, however the store manager would do nothing for me.

I then (via registered mail) sent a letter to the company CEO, explaining the problem, and asking for his assistance. Soon after I received a call from an employee in the Executive Customer Relations in response to my letter. Although it took about 2 weeks he cancelled my service without the cancellation fee and also waived my last months bill.

The squeekiest wheel gets the grease! I suggest that anyone with problems contact the CEO. Maybe if enough complaints are received by his office something will be done about the ripoffs. His name is Mr John Stanton, Chairman & CEO, VoiceStream Wireless, 12920 SE 38th Street, Bellevue, Wa, 98006
