Ripped me off on an exchange of a defective item!

Electronics and household app.

On the 4th of December, i purchased a Sony DSC-S40 digital camera from Circuit City. The camera only function properly for about less than 1 hr of usage, and went dead. I brought it back on dec 10th, tried to return it but they said i will be charge for a "restocking fee of 15%", apparently there's a 15% fee on all return or defective items, regardless of what reason.

So I said forget it and exchanged for the same model again. Brought it home, and within one day, the same problem occured again. The camera would just shut off immediately after being turned on. I did a search online and found that problem to be very common on this particular model, and the only way to fix it is to send it back to Sony. So that's two strikes.

I then brought it back, and this time i tried to return it because i DONT WANT THE SAME MODEL AGAIN. But NO, return wouldnt work, so I told them to give me the store credit, thinking that there wouldnt be any restocking fee since i didnt get my $ back or anything. Then I bought a higher sony digital camera model, more expensive, and when i paid for it, the "Store Director" who happened to be around and ring my item since the other worker was busy, charged me the restocking fee of $21.

I questioned the rediculous charge and he said it's the policy, and the only way to avoid the fee is to get the same item again. But for Christ sake i dont want the same item since it's might eventually caused that problem again, and plus im giving my girlfriend this camera so she could use it out of country, and most likely giving it away to her family over there, so i have every possibly reason to NOT getting the same item again.

So being tired of waiting and reasoning, i said whatever and walked out with a more expensive camera, plus being ripped off of $21 for EXCHANGING A DEFECTIVE ITEM. $21 dollar is not a big amount, but the feeling of being ripped off really disturbed me. Jesus, it's not like i simply returned an item because i dont like it. It's clearly that it was defective, not once, but twice. And on the 1st exchanged, i also bought an Ipod Shuffle open box (since there werent any brand new left), i was promised that it was in perfectly working condition. I came home, put a few songs in, and the unit didnt even turn on for once.: (

I dont think i'd ever shop there again.
