Ripoff Bad service, unwilling to allow upgrades, and not willing to repair product

Last fall, I sent my cellular phone (an inexpensive LG model) to be repaired at Atlantic Wireless in Greenville, NC, as it was giving spotty service. Lots of dropped calls, and the phone wouldn't work at all in moving vehicles. This created a problem, because I'm an athletic trainer, and sometimes I am treating football players while talking to sports medicine doctors over the phone in the back of a moving bus.

The staff at Atlantic Wireless agreed to repair my phone, and they gave me a loaner phone. The loaner worked fine. But, when I got my original phone back, it still didn't work properly. It still drops calls all the time.

In November I went back to Atlantic Wireless, and explained my need for a working phone, due to the nature of my job. I asked them if they would allow me to upgrade phones, and that I was willing to pay extra money to get a working phone. The service staff said that they wouldn't allow that under my existing contract. Please note that I was willing to pay extra money to get a better phone, or a better service plan.

In June the Atlantic Wireless staff gave me a flyer in the mail, stating that they have reserved a Kyocera phone if I would renew my contract for 24 months. I called their service manager and explained that their service was horrible and that they weren't willing to work with me in November, so why should I renew?

The service manager stated that my particular LG model phone had given them lots of problems, and that they would be willing to put me under a new contract with their new promotional Kyocera phone. The problem is that Atlantic Wireless treats you like dirt once you sign on the dotted line. They have you under contract for 24 months, and are unwilling to allow upgrades. They are also unwilling to fix your present promotional phone. My contract with Atlantic Wireless ends on November 26.

In summary, I see four deceptive practices on their part:
1. Selling shoddy promotional phones.
2. Not fixing the shoddy phones when they don't work.
3. Not allowing customers to upgrade to better phones, even if the customers are willing to pay more for the upgrade.
4. They are only willing to deal with customers when your contract is nearing termination, and then it is only if you take another cheap promotional phone, on their terms.
