Ripoff, won't refund on late x-mas gift, paid $40 for shipping, promised refund — none

I ordered an item for Christmas, paid $40 for shipping by Dec. 25th. I found it at another site for $50 cheaper, tried to use their "low price guarantee" on their website to honor the lowest price I found. The rejected it. I knew from there they had no interest in pleasing their customers.

I followed up by calling them to confirm it was for Christmas delivery and they assured me it was and I would be refunded the fee if it wasn't.

The item was not delivered by Christmas. Also, it had some type of sticky commercial glue on the box that got all over my couch. I called about return for a full refund. They promised to send the info. Via e-mail within a few days.

Never got return information. I waited. I finally returned it to the address on the shipping box. When I called about my refund a month or so later, they stated they refused the return in the warehouse.

I further pursued this by writing e-mail after e-mail. I finally got an e-mail that they would give me a full refund, they were sorry, blah blah blah. And that they credited my account.

After seeing my account wasn't credited, I sent another e-mail. I received a further e-mail stating they would not refund the $40 shipping fee, and that a $45 restocking fee would be applied. I am trying to fight that, as the item was exactly as it had arrived and their website states only if it is not in the same condition will that charge apply.

I see there has been none credit to my account whatsoever; partial or otherwise. What a ripoff! They should be held liable for ripping people off.
