Early termination ripoff

Do not ever choose at&t wireless for your service!!! The service sucks and they do not care about their customers!!!

In January I switched from TMobile to AT&T Wireless because AT&T had better coverage at my home. I shopped their rate plans and found one that I thought was good for me. However, I was going over my minutes and my bill began to go from $50-60 to $200-300. While I got coverage at my home which is in the country, I could not get good coverage in the city.in May I decided that I could not afford to keep the coverage with AT&T so I switched back to TMobile. I called AT&T and asked if they had a better plan and was told that they did not.

I then told them that I wanted to cancel my service since I needed to go back to TMobile where I would have a plan to fit my needs. I was told that if I cancelled they would charge me a early disconnect fee of $250. I explained that their plans did not meet my needs and were costing me too much but was still told that the fee would be added. I then wrote a letter pleading my case and heard nothing from them so I assumed that it was over. Now 6 months later I have received a letter and phone call that they are going to seek involuntary measures of collecting this if I don't pay. I did pay this but I think it is a ripoff if your rates/plans do not fit someone's needs and you make them pay a fee to change.

If I were them I would rather have not charged the fee and have them say nice things verses charging the fee and having my name slandered. The bottom line is that they sold to Cingular and are trying to get all the money they can. It is a shame that they treat people the way they do.
