Customer service representatives promising bogus rebates for purchase of cell phones San Diego California

After misplacing my car charger I made a trip to the Sprint PCS store in Sabre Springs, CA in August. My intent was to purchase only a new charger although my phone was rather old. After talking with the customer service representative I learned that I qualified for a rebate on a new phone so I decided to purchase that instead of the charger.

I followed the directions of the representative and the instructions that he provided for me. Three months later I decided to check the status of the rebate that had never materialized. I was astonished to find a message on the website telling me that my phone did not qualify for the rebate. I was furious of course since I had been told that I would receive a rebate.

I contacted the customer service department via the Sprint PCS website with my complaint. They responded back promptly to apologize for the inconvenience but they could only offer me the rebate if I added a 15 dollar a month service to my existing plan. Again, this is not what I was told when I bought the phone so I refused to pay it and got none of the rebate that I was promised.
