Won't honor rebates! Ripoff

I purchased 2 nextel phones on 9/24/06 and mailed all appropriate documentation to the sprint nextel rebate center. The website said allow 4-6 weeks for processing, so I did yet the status of my rebate did not change on their online rebate status inquiry. I contacted the rebate center on numerous occasions and literally spent hours on the phone being shuffled back and forth between the rebate center and customer service.

At first they said they could not verify my account information, and I needed to contact customer service to have them update my account information so they could process my rebate, so I contacted customer service and they said your account is updated we have no idea what they are talking about. So again back and forth between customer service and the rebate center.

Finally the rebate center tells me to re-submit the rebate information so I go to the nextel website and download a rebate form and again send all the required information to them in early november almost 2 months from the original purchase date. I again monitor the rebate status online and stay in contact with the rebate center and finally today 12/12/06 the status was updated" Rebate received 11/15/06 Status Denied" so I contacted the rebate center and they said the form I submitted was not in the qualifying period of the purchase. I again explained to them that this was the second time I submitted this rebate and that was the form that was available on-line. I asked to speak to the rebate center manager and he said they would not honor the rebate due to the form and purchase date etc. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said he was the boss.

I contacted customer service and they said we are sorry we can't do anything for you. Nextel advertised a $50.00 rebate for the purchase of the i560 and a $50.00 rebate for the purchase of an i760 with the signing of a 2 year agreement which I did. I submitted the rebate forms and all documentation not once but twice and have not seen a dime.

The bottom line is they are false advertising and have no intention of honoring the rebates they advertise, furthermore it is my opinion that Sprint has every intention of driving nextel out of business. I was with verizon wireless for 10 years prior to switching to nextel and I gravely regret leaving verizon as they are a reputable company with top notch customer service, and going to nextel a fly by night operation that probably won't even exist by the end of my 2 year contract.
