Repeated Part Failure

Purchased a Thermador side by side refrigerator/freezer, model number KBUDT4860A01, in 2005. Stylish, adds greatly to our kitchen. Frustrated with the repeated failure of the electonic components that control ice making. Part -PS557945 Electronic Control Boards - Emitter and Receiver
This is the second time I have had to replace this part in the last 5 years. This is my first post and I have not investigated if others have experienced the same problem. I'd appreciate any answers/suggestions.
