Pennsylvania Culinary Institute
Graduated with a 4.0 GPA as classValedictorian and can't find a decent job!

Education & Science

When I applied for acceptance into the Pastry Arts program, I was promised the moon if I were to graduate from this coveted program! I relocated myself, my husband and four children from Texas to Pennsylvania to start the program. I made a vow to myself that such a great sacrifice would require extreme focus and my goal was to graduate with no less than a perfect 4.0 GPA.

All throughout school the environment made you feel like you were one step away from being the next "celebrity chef". I met great people, but upon graduation as valedictorian of the class with my coveted 4.0 GPA that I worked so hard for, I found it extremely difficult to find any job that would pay much better than minimum wage. My classmates are going through the same situations that I am. Most of us are not even employed in the food industry at the moment. The few people that are in the food industry are not doing what we were "trained" to do and are not making nearly the amount of money that was implied to us that we would make.

When I search classified ads for employment I am appalled at the fact that most food service jobs pay minimum wage and do not even require a high school diploma! Why did I waste my time and money on a worthless education! I am unemployed and now have bad credit because I do not have a job to make money to pay back all of the extreme student loans that I racked up through this school! No wonder they closed down this campus. I know that they have filed a class action lawsuit with a sister culinary school in California, is there anyway to start one for this school or add our names to the list!???
