Scam, and I want to know where my money went

This company also ripped me off and I want to know where my money went to. A guy came to my house back in 2005 when I was in the military and offered me some college stuff and charged me allotments on my pay. He said I would get some books in the mail and other things. I never recieved a thing. They charged me about 1678 dollars for this crap. And I stopped it on my pay and a few weeks later they called me and said I owed this money or they would take some sort of action for it. So i paid it to make them stop calling me. Now the creditors say I still owe some money and the report says it was paid off... What the heck???
