Customer Disservice failure to provide service and false promises

Never believe the commercials, cable is not the better choice. Unfortunately I'm stuck with cable because of the weather (primarily the wind that would screw up the dish). Charter's digital cable can supposedly (key word) be turned off for late payment, payed, and turned back on within an hour. Well we had our service cut-off for late payment. We as soon as we noticed the problem we called and payed our bill. They promised to restore service within an hour.

36 hours later we still didn't have service. The customer service rep said they'd try "one more time" to restore service. And promised to call and schedule a repair service (at our expense of course) to restore service. Less than five minutes later the service was back on. I have to ask, if all it takes was five minutes why the h*ll couldn't they do it when we payed our bill.

I personally think that Charter should follow the example of the Japanese and start a company exercise program. That way their lazy service people would get off their fat asses at least once in a while, since they obviously never get off their asses to help a customer.
