Sharon Financial Aid / Gisella Recruiter Duped by FOUL University of Phoenix. Fleeced Like A Sheep

I went to the University of Phoenix early in the month of January as I had heard by a mutual friend about this University helping you get back into college and learninng a new profession all with the help of Federal Pell Grants. I took it on their word I am a hispanic 66 year old man who worked for many years in a factory called Motorola before we were laid off and our jobs sent to Mexico. I wanted to get a degree in something I have always had interest in such as Criminal Justice. My English is not perfect or proficient but I get along. First, I was interviewed by the recruiting counselor Gisella a nice lady who told me we needed to get an Federal Aid Application filled out first. I did that and turned in all the documentation per their suggestions. On January 13 they sent me correspondence that I was admitted into their program. At this point I was excited but had not yet received any information about the Financial Aid / Pell Grants. These people misinformed me or failed to tell the whole story. Heck I was even so grateful to this lady that my wife decided to invite her to dinner at the Golden Corral as she was transferring out of state to Virginia. The classes would start by January 26th and I still did not have any information on what the Financial Aid would consist of. Finally on January 30th I received a letter dated January 27 saying that I had been approved for a $1,241.00 Pell Grant and that the rest of the money for the program would be in the form of a Federal loan. The Criminal Justice Degree would run about $14,000.00 total. Now I am and old man I was not going to put myself in a situation where I would be obligated to pay the money back. I am living on barely $600 a month on social security payments. I do not have the means to pay what they were dishing. Now, I called to cancel this whole thing and they are telling me that I have to pay them $400.00 because I have signed into the class and the first assignment was to put a biography of me in the post. I had received assistance from the recruiting counselor Gisella to type my biography she said to be brief which the assignment wanted by the professor was to expand like he did his. But this is just a way for them to latch on you and get their pound of flesh. Since not too many people would go into this deal if they were told the truth. They don't care how they get their money whether it is from an ignorant individual like myself or the Federal Government. They don't teach anything with real substance they give you menial assignments for that first week that you enroll so they can grab you by the balls and charge some ludicrous amount of money. If they really wanted to do good by the students or consumers they would provide the information upfront about the supposedly financial aid instead of giving it to you after the courses are already started. I would like to file a lawsuit against this people and donate the money to a scholarship for needy families so that they can learn a lesson not to hoodwink honest people. Bunch of vultures. I will fight the fee they are imposing on me and make sure that everyone knows what kind of crooks they are.
