Refunded money now charging me, can't get transcripts

I started FMU online in Jan. Of 2005 was doing great no problem. Then when I had to stop taking classes in 2006 due to a high risk pregnancy, I was told there shouldn't be a problem when I get ready to start again. After a few months went by I recieved a refund check from the school, when I called they said that everything was okay, go ahead and cash the check. Now that I'm ready to start again after having 2 children, they say that they sold my account to an outside company because I owe them $1,700. No mind you they only sent me $531.00 or somthing close to that, they even sent money back to Sallie Mae on my behalf. I have called them several times about this and they say they can't help me, that colleges do this kind of stuff all the time. I asked what do I owe money for when I got a refund and they say its for my classes that were already passed. Now I have at least 30 credits that I have no access to, can't even get an unofficial transcript to take to another school until I can afford to pay them back, not that I feel I should, but so I can eventually get the official transcript so I don't have to start all over again. They won't even make a payment plan with me, cause they say they no longer have anything to do with my account, and that once its written off I'll never get my transcripts from them. Anyway I still owe Sallie Mae for the loans I recieved for taking classes at this school, and now seems like it was all a waste. I wouldn't recommend anyone going to this school. Now there are some people there that are willing to help if they had the position to cause they understand and to those few people I thank you for helping trying to fix this problem. To the bussiness office, you people need to get your stuff together and stop screwing over people who have worked hard to better themselves.
