Dishonest fraudulent ripoff telemarketing scheme scams the unsuspecting consume

Emily Slaven and Tim Downs, contacted me in Oct of they promised me a Mastercard Credit Card with a $2500.00 limit. They told me that this was a credit card that had a monthly fee and no interest. That this was a good way to rebuild/repair your credit.

I would receive my credit card in 3 to 5 business days after my check for $221.95 (processing fee) cleared my bank. On Oct 25 my account was debit for $221.95. Six working days later I called Freedom Resource, after being on hold for 40 minutes, I got a hold of a customer service representative, she informed me that it takes 15 to 21 business days to receive you Benefits package. When I questioned them about what their telemarketeers had promised, they said that they were out there just trying to make a sale. She also told me that they would be checking into this misrepresentation. They asked me to check back in a week and a half.

So a week and a half later I called back and due to the heavy response they had fallen behind and as soon as they got more Benefits packages together they would be sending them out. Two calls later I finally got a hold of a lady in customer service who said she would get me one out right away. I finally got my Benefits packet in the middle of December it had a postmark of Dec 11.

No credit card, there was a letter welcome me to Freedom Resource and giving me my Username and password for their Website. It also informed me that if I hadn't already received my new MasterCard reservation material they would be arriving in the mail in the next few days. From the letter I quote "Your MasterCard is on its way. Your new card is accepted at over 13 million locations nationwide."

Didn't receive anything in a couple of weeks, called agian and they just couldn't understand it, because it had been mailed out, but not to worry they would get another one mailed out. That one never showed up either. Couple weeks later I called back again, every time I called 678-239-0133 it was always a 30-40 minute hold time. They just couldn't understand what was happening, asked me if I had access to a fax, I did and gave them the number, 3 days later I called again and found out that they could no longer fax out reservations, but they would once again mail one out. Never showed up. I call again and talk to a lady named Gloria, ext. 127 I believe. Told her my problems, she said she would talk to her supervisor and have a reservation sent right out.

Anyhow by now 60 days has passed and now my bank won't return my funds, on electronic fund transfers you have up to 60 days to stop payment. Originally I was told you had 90 days, but when I went to stop payment the bank corrected itself and informed me I had only 60 days.

Once again it has been 2 weeks since I talked to Gloria and so I call back again. I get ahold of another lady in customer service and she is very rude, told me if I had a fax number she would fax me a reservation. I tell her that I had been informed that they couldn't fax reservations anymore and she saids do you have a fax number or not. So I give her my fax number and she wants to know if there is anything else? I try to tell her there is and that if I don't receive my reservation that I am going to my County Attorney with this. She keeps asking if there is anything else and I asked her if she was listening to me or not. She was just very, very, rude.

A week has passed and still no MasterCard or even a reservation. It is now the 17th of Febuary 2003. Freedom Resource is a dishonest company that practices/commits Telemarketing Fraud on the unsuspecting public. My checking account had EFTs taken out for a Communications M, for $49.95, fortunately I caught this in time and put stop payments on them. I called Communications M, they are a long distance phone service, and found out that they were also connected with Freedom Resource.

I am very pissed and so is my wife. I am also going to proceed with my complaint to my County Attorney and see if he will file Fraudulent Telemarketing charges against Freedom Resource.
