After attending a couple of colleges and finding it difficult to graduate, I thought I had found a solution with the promises made by Katharine Gibbs. They offer: Flexible schedules, small classes, and "hands on education". Just minutes after I submitted my information to recieve a brochure the phone rang. It was an admissions representative from Katharine Gibbs. I enrolled and it was all down hill from that point on.
Three weeks into my first quarter I started to notice that alot of students were always complaining and meeting with the Dean of Business. I found that a little strange. Then the 2 hour classes lasted only 45 minutes. The work was easier than junior high.

My second quarter I started to experience the registrar office's scheduling disasters. I was enrolled in the marketing program, and they had me in accounting classes. They also had me in a class with a pre-requisite that I had not yet taken. Scheduling was a continuous problem. There were several times they could not even offer me a full schedule.

Fast forward to my last quarter. I now am introduced to the ignoramuses in the Career Services department. During my Career Development class 1 of the 3 women in Career Services came in to make a speech about what they do to help students. The woman was extremely UNprofessional. I mean she stood in front of a room of 30 students and said that any student with a conviction would need to write it down and their resume would not go out to employeers that did background checks. I was shocked that a person in an HR position could make a statement that is a violation of civil rights.

I then contacted my dean, and she connected me to the head of the Career Services Department. The woman patronized me and basically told me that they had to do that to maintain good relationships with companies. I repeatedly informed her that it was illegal. So I went back to the dean, and anyone who would listen, and then to the president. He seemed to understand the situation and discussed a policy change with the Career services department. I also informed him that they did not even know how to write a professional resume and were listing minimum wage jobs for graduates.

I graduated with honors. I applied to a state university and the Katharine Gibbs business and registrar departments would not send out my transcripts. They said that I have a balance and they will not send out my transcipts until I pay the balance. They never credited my transfer credits or my grants. I had no problem paying a balance; I had a huge problem with paying the incorrect balance. Finally after 2 weeks, and another call to the president my transcripts were released. I recieved no help in furthering my education. I asked all around the school who could assist me in applying to another school for my Bachelors. No one helped at all. They said that they do not do that.

It has been 2 months since I sent my resume to career services. I have not recieved any word about any job oppurtunities. I have several years of business mangement and marketing experience. I find it hard to believe that my resume has been faxed.

Katharine Gibbs is hands on... You have to teach yourself, make your own schedule, fight for your civil rights, audit your own account, service your own career, and further your own education. I also was among students that were illiterate or could not speak english. Their only standards are that you can get financial aid.
