Sports Physical?

I t will be to any N. Y State parents, peace of mind, to accompany your child when they are told in Middle School that if they want to play a sport they must have a SCHOOL physical. I asked if our family physician could give my child the exam and I was told no. The school had to examine him. Why? Because all the form says, is a physical to play sports. Most parents would think that meant heartbeat, pulse, eyes, ears and throat. Right? No. That means FULL body exam / head to toe at 12 or 13. Also parents should be aware that a female performs male checks. So although most parents would prefer to have their children examined this way for the first time by their own family doctor who their children are comfortable with, if you sign that consent form for sports, the school will pick for you. As with all the other posts I have made here on this site - no one will address this or any other problem going on here in this state.
