Misleading E-mail

Portfolio Recovery has sent me letters asking me to pay this debt. I do not have the money to pay so I did not contact them.
The last letter I received it said I had until 12/20/07 to contact them or they would get an attorney in my State (Oregon) to sue me. I E-mailed them with a proposed settlement to make payments.
I received an e-mail back from Claudia Tynes asking me to say I AGREE in the subject line that this is my private E-mail address. I E-mailed her back saying I agree this is my private E-mail address and not just I Agree. She E-mailed me back and said this has already been sent to legal unless I call them.
I replied I don't have a home phone and if this has already been sent to legal and E-mail was not a proper way to communicate, why did she ask me to agree.
Claudia replied Contact Eskanos & Adler Attorney.
What shoul I do? I have never asked for a Validation.
