ITT Technical Institute
I am now in debt and have nothing to show for it

I fell for the add on TV, it sounded like the best way for me (a single mom) to fulfill all of my obligations. I could be home in the evenings for my children and still work full time to maintain my household. At the time that I signed up I researched the school to make sure that they were accredited because I knew I was going to have to go to a University to get a full degree. Everything that I checked into came back okay. Some even stated that they had a limited transferability but that they would take some of the credits.

So I spoke to my family about the decision and we made the agreement that I should go back to school to get a degree. The whole plan was to increase my value to the job market so I could make better money and support my kids.

Now I am enrolled in a local Community College, thankfully I was only suckered by ITT for two terms but those two terms cost me about $7000.00. I have spent about that much at the Community College and I am going on my third year. Sadly the whole ITT thing set me back and I am paying off the loan to a collection agency while trying to work full time, and go to school 3/4 time. Plus I still have my children to take care of.

I was not impressed by the instructors either. I enrolled in the online program and I was told that if I ever had any questions that the instructors would respond to me within 24 hours. Well that turned out to be a joke and I was lucky if I got a response back in a week. Well past the due date of the assignments, and even then their "assistance" was minimal and not very helpful.

Now if you watch the adds for ITT tech it states at the bottom of the screen that they have limited transferability on all credits. That was not there when I signed up in and as I stated before I researched them.

I seriously feel that I was victimized. I was sold a program that in my opinion is defective. I stated several times to the guy who suckered me in that I would need to transfer my credits at some point and was reassured that it would not be a problem. Of course I did not record any of those phone conversations, and when I tried to get back in touch with my "salesman" when things weren't turning out, he quit returning my phone calls. Imagine that!

If anyone has any intentions of signing up for ITT Tech beware and look into your Community Colleges first. Most of them offer online programs and the amazing part is they are accredited and their credits will transfer to a university.
