Cdl training no class room training

Education & Science

I recently attended prime inc cdl training program. I was told i would spend four day's in class training to take cdl permit test and then would take written cdl test to obtain permit spent more than half the day getting finger printed our physical exam drug screening then an interview then waited for someone to come into the class room and give us a clue to what was next. At about 4:15 pm someone finally showed up to tell us what was expected and that was to study the Missouri cdl license instruction manual for the rest of the day and that night until we puked if need be because we would be taking the written cdl permit test the next morning also stated that most of us would probably fail the test but that was okay because we had three different tests to take and could retake the tests twice that day twice the next day and twice the day after that. Needless to say about ninety percent of the class failed the first time and eighty percent the next time. We received no instruction from any instructor's just read the manual in class. On the fourth day those lucky enough to obtain the permit would be paired up with driver's to go on the road for two to four week's on the road training it is no wonder to me that they said so many would fail because they instructed us on nothing i don't know about you but i expect to be taught something in school by an instructor not totally by a manual we never even saw a trailer and one of the tests was on the trailer. Needless to say i was not about to go almost 4000 dollars in debt to a school that taught me nothing and you can bet these drivers you are with are trying to make a living, trying to make deadlines and trying to sleep while they teach you every thing you need to know such as how the truck works, how to do the log books how to maintain the trucks oh did i mention how to drive it safely i think not there just aren't enough hours in a day and when you fail at trying to have all this crammed into your head and don't last a year on the truck boom you owe them 4000 dollars to be paid on demand or they WILL sue you and ruin your credit for what no wonder they hope you will fail!!! Before you do cdl training with a company owned school and get yourself into serious debt i would consider a community college course that actually has classroom training or a non company owned school. I recommend very strongly that you take the time and do some real research on what and how you will be taught or you will never succeed in the trucking industry no wonder this company has a yard literally full of truck's not making any money. TAKE MY ADVICE DON'T BE PRIME FOR A RIP OFF and this is not a safe way to learn how to drive a truck and the recruiters will tell you anything to get you signed up because they make money off you.
