Calling Card Ripoff

I used my AT&T calling card from Europe after I called and they told me it was 30 cents a minute which was cheaper than the 99 cents a minute on my AT&T cell phone with the international calling plan. So, I used my card for 117 minutes of calls over a week period and got a bill for $663.09. When I called Customer Service to find out what happened - they told me that the calls from overseas were not included in my international calling plan that I had on my card. I thus, was charged outrageous rates which would have been much cheaper on my cell phone. There is no way it should cost over 11 dollars a minute for a call from Europe using land lines when I could have called using my cell phone for 99 cents. If I was told the correct rate, wouldn't I have just used my cell phone??? Yes.

AT&T's customer service is obviously outsourced to low cost suppliers overseas - and they have been given a set script and limited authority. Also, you must wait online for typically 10 - 20 minutes to speak with one of these so called customer service agents who can not (or will not) do anything. I have spent hours on the phone to no avail.

I have been a loyal AT&T customer for years and now hate the company and the way they do business. I am still trying to dispute this bill but assume I will end up paying to keep my credit clear.

Is there a way to sue a big company for this kind of treatment. I was also called by an AT&T collections person and harassed on the phone. This is ridiculous given the circumstances and that I have been a loyal customer for years - not to mention currently have high speed internet, wireless, home and local service from them - and always pay timely. My only dispute is for my calling card in which they told me the wrong rate. What kind of idiot would use a calling card if their cell phone (from the same supplier) was cheaper?
