Legacy Long Distance
$17.05 Long Distance phone call for less than 40 seconds! Ripoff

We were traveling and stopped at a hotel to sleep. I went to use my cell phone to call home and Verizon Wireless had all the towers and they would not let me use my cell because I was not a Verizon customer. I went to the lobby of the hotel and they told me to use a credit card instead of the hotel phone service and that it would be cheaper. I remembered this because I use to work at a hotel and the long distance charges would be like $3.00 - $5.00 for a minute or 2 use. So we went back to our room and my husband picked up the phone and dialed 3 for credit card call. When he pushed the button, he expected to hear rates and fees for credit card calls and all he got was, please enter the number you wish to dial and then your card number so he did. The call was less than 30 seconds and when I got my credit card bill, Legacy charged me $17.05. I had no clue what Legacy was especially because the charge came from California. I called the 800 number and Customer Service told me basically, too bad about the amount charged and that they were not going to reduce it. So I put in a dispute with my credit card company. It is an outrageous and ridiculous charge for a long distance phone call that was less than 30 seconds. What a rip-off this company is charging excessive fees and rates and they don't even post them anywhere. Bottom line, even if you have a cell phone, always carry a calling card as a backup!
