Ripoff took our money and left us high and dry

I had a small business and was trying to get a grant to expand so I could keep up with the near by towns competition. So in April I started looking for grant help and when I came across MGR Solutions I thought the company sounded like they could help me out. I even checked them out with the Better Business Bureau and they said they had only one complaint and that had been resolved so I thought it was safe to give them a call.

I was contacted the next day and then for two or three days the company kept calling and trying to convince me to go ahead and send the the $ 449.00. It was as the man from MGR said a sure thing. I was told on the phone that I already had a grant waiting for me for 25,000 and I needed to send the money right away or the grant would go to someone else so I mailed the money.

I was told to get estimates from local businesses for things like advertising costs at newspapers, radio stations, costs for better, newer equipment ect. But never was again told were or when to fax it or send it to them. I did fill out and return other papers they asked for. I was told I would have a grant within 6 months and thats about all I could wait before I would struggle with my company financially. I waited the first two months and finally called and was told there was a slight delay and it would be about another month, then when I checked in again I was told we were denied and we would be getting a letter, which we never did get.

I waited again the two months and then was told I had a grant and it would be a few days but there was no contact again for weeks. Finally in January I had called so often and never had a call returned that I decided that I need to just get my money back. I have been trying to and even went to the Better Business Bureau a month ago and after they reviewed the case they closed it because MGR 's contract apparently doesnt say they have to do anything or return money unless I give them three denial letters, which I cant get since I have no idea where if anywhere they sent proposals to so I am at a loss, the BBB said I could try to go to small claims court but I would spend more money then I already lost.

How can a company legally keep taking peoples money and never give what they promised on the phone. I have never and probably never will see three denial letters but it doesnt seem right in this day and age that companies like this can get by with stealing hard working peoples money and not get in trouble. I hope someone may be able to help me. I just want my money back.

The company told the Bureau they are always there but I have tried early morning, late afternoon and late night and never get through to anyone to try to handle the problem. I am very frustrated and upset and I really need my money back I cant afford that kind of a loss.
