Midland Credit Management, MCM And Bowman, Heintz, Boscia And VicianMidland Credit Management, MCM is suing me for a charged off debt to Fingerhut Ripoff

Here is the quick back story.in I had a Fingerhut account. I lost my job, could not work out a payment plan with fingerhut that was reasonable, and by July they charged off my account as a bad debt. I even have a current credit report that shows this. Since then, the debt as been sold to numerous assignees, and every time I receive a notice, I dispute the debt. Sometimes, they just sell it to someone else, sometimes they send me a few of my Fingerhut statements, but still nothing justifying the amount they are claiming, which I turn around and dispute again.in I received 2 letters, one in March, and 1 in April from MRC Receivables.in May, I received a letter from Midland Funding/Midland Credit Management. Again, I disputed these. I also was able to get the duplicate entried off my credit report at this time. I got 2 more letters in September but I ignored them, thinking they would sell the debt as always and because they still had not justified the double amount they were asking. I was also in the process of moving from Indiana to Arizona. I left October 6, and I have been here in Arizona ever since.

Today, I stop by to pick up my mail, and find two letters that had been sent to my Mail Forwarding Service. One is from Midland saying they are suing me, back in Indiana, and the other letter is from the sheriff's office saying I have a court date of February 5th. I haven't called the courts yet, because I immediately started researching the legalities of this case. How can they sue me and I haven't even been served? What do I do next. This debt was about to roll off in 5 months.
