Reading other reports I remembered another incident at UoPee. I was enrolled in the BSIT course, the very one named by Intel as no longer qualifying for tuition reimbursement. I was told to attend the next available class to me which was Business management, I struggled through the class with my assigned "work group" of people who I would be suprised to learn had even graduated high school. I pushed very hard in the group, getting them to see the sensible way to do things, we made our final presentation and I received an "A" for my efforts. The thing is that during the last week of the class I was told that it was not a requirement for my particular course and that I could actually bow out if I wanted. I decided for the sake of the others who were relying on my input to produce our final group effort, that I would stick it out, having come this far; you know, what's one more week? Well I finished the class, got my grade and was billed $1285!!! The clincher here is that since it was not a required part of my curriculum I was told that the Federal Student loan would not pay for it and it would be an "out of pocket" expense for me. They bugged me for awhile about how I wanted to pay for this, since it is DUE NOW. I mentioned to my "counselor" in a email that I am not a fool and she needn't go on thinking I am and they quietly dropped the claim. My next question was how do I get compensated for the time and effort that I put in on a class that I was "counseled" to take as a required course? This was the beginning of the end; I took two classes after this one and was finally so disgusted by this screwed-up fraud factory that I left for another school, now I'm getting billed by UoP. Why should my Federal Loan money go to this scam outfit? I'm a hard working HONEST person who does not like being RIPPED OFF by giant corporate CASH COWS.
