Education & Science

Today in front of my local supermarket, a guy gets my attention from his Ford Explorer SUV & tells me he's got some speakers "to give away". I was thinking that they were free so I was interested. The guy pulls over into a parking spot & gets out. He's somewhat tall & talks real fast about the fact that the company that delivered the system send them an extra one that they needed to get rid of. I asked him why he didn't take it. He said he lived too far (Kissimmee). It didn't sound like a good reason but I ignored it. He showed me a laminated sheet showing a price on the system at $949 but said he'd be willing to give me "whatever I had" for them. I said $100 but he said they (he had a friend in the passenger seat who had long dirty blonde hair up to his shoulders) couldn't do it for that cheap. He asked $400, I negotiated $300. I ended up giving him $350, the extra $50 because I thought he was doing me a favor. He gave me his phone number which I haven't tried calling yet. I'm sure it's bogus.in fact, I read that one instance in Texas involved 2 guys that sounded exactly like the ones I met. Immediately afterwards, I jumped on the internet to find out how much the system really costs when I came across this site. I find it interesting that this has happened so many times. If I find out that other systems (that are legit) are priced $350 or lower, than I'll feel ripped off. LarryAltamonte Springs, Florida
